Ylang Ylang oil and my romantic dreams

My niece asked me, Ola what is the name of this essential oil that you had romantic dreams after? And then I remembered, years ago I used Ylang Ylang oil on my pillow and I had the softest and most pleasant and romantic dreams in my human career 😀 So I bought it again now, and as I write it, I can smell it around me. It just arrived today and I overdid it lol, put few drops in my hair and on my bra so I can smell it all day. Mr B was like ‘ the hell is that smell’, to which I usually respond ‘oh it’s just of the essential oils’, and he is like ‘Oh right’. The oils are an essence, high concentration and that’s what makes them work, but are not always pleasant to smell. Especially not to Mr B 😀 However note that Ylang Ylang oil is used in small proportions in perfumes such as Dior, Chanel or Jo Malone. It is sweet, exotic and a bit floral. The perfume is extracted from yellow flowers that grow on a tree, which is native from India and some other parts of the Far East. Ylang Ylang oil bought in the usual shop smells a bit different to the one I find online, you need to look for good quality supplier selling aromatherapy 100% essential oils!

The Ylang Ylang oil in general works to make you calm. It deals with stress and like many plants with inflammation, but it is also an aphrodisiac. Hence the romantic dreams I guess! will work differently on everyone, so I can’t promise you romantic dreams, but it is what it did to me. I think it interacts with whatever environment you are in physically or mentally and it goes from there. To sum up all other properties:

  • anti-depressant
  • promotes positive feelings such as happiness and optimism
  • boosts libido (few drops on the bed or for romantic bath)
  • sedative
  • tones the nervous system
  • calms heart rate
  • calms blood pressure (notice most of these are a result of stress, and Ylang Ylang oil in general calms your body and systems down)
  • anti-septic
  • anti-spasmodic (PMS girls)
  • mood swings (also PMS)
  • stimulates circulation (think also hair growth)
  • soothes nervousness and sadness
  • promotes skin healing
  • hydrates skin (can add to the cream, also for balancing oily skin)
  • soothes tired muscles
  • enhances energy (helps with fatigue and tiredness)

My nervous system has always been all over the place, I think it’s the result of having sepsis, being blood type 0, modern life stress and having few traumas as a child. I’m committed to calm it down, I’m not a doctor but I can connect various things logically, and for me using calming oils, with exercise, vitamins and healthy food is the most logical way forward. If you are on medications, of course keep them in parallel, until maybe one day you need less and less of them 😉 …
